From 1997 Skoda launched manufacture of autos type Octavia, modification of 1.9 TDI GLX and terminated it in 2000. This 5-door hatchback has a length of 4.5 meters, weight 1.3 tons and is assigned to sit 5 passengers including the driver.

«Octavia 1.9 TDI GLX» auto with a 5-speed manual gearbox is fitted to the front wheels. This car can speed up for 13.5 s to 100 km/h, with a peak speed of 181 km/h, thanks to a 4-cylinders diesel motor with a «direct injection system», which produce a max output of 90 hp at 4000 rpm.

Fuel rate is 6.7 l in the urban driving mode, on the highway 4.2 l, and the average fuel consumption is 5.1 l per 100 km. Tank capacity is 55 l of diesel, what allow you to drive approximately 1079 km without refueling.

The forward wheels of this car have ventilated disks, 256 mm brakes and fixed to the underframe with help of suspension type «MacPherson, independent, coil springs» and equipped with stabilizer bar. Back wheels have drums, 230 mm brakes and fixed to the chassis with help of suspension «Semi-independent, coil springs» and equipped anti-roll bar. Tires have the next size - 195/65TR15.

Skoda Octavia is not certified for crash test Euro NCAP. This car has passive safety features (passenger, driver airbags), however there is no dynamic systems of safety.
