The Opel Speedster, was a beautifully designed vehicle that lived up to its name. Borrowing the Lotus Elise platform, the vehicle was agile and light weight model that was powered by a gasoline 4 cylinder diagonally mid mounted unit that powered the car to a max speed of 135 mph going from 0 to 62 in mere 6 seconds. What placed it under the supercars category consisting of Ferrari, Porsche and Lambos was its lack of horsepower; the lightweight factor in its construction established an enormous aid in tight cornering. A new turbocharged engine was introduced in the vehicle range in 2003.
