From 1997 Opel launched production of autos model Astra, modification 1.6i Sport Cool and finished it in 1998. This three-door hatchback has a length of 4.1 meters, weight 1 tons and is destined to sit 5 people including the driver.

«Astra 1.6i Sport Cool» car with a 5-speed manual gear shift is connected to the front wheels. This car can be accelerated for 14.5 s to 100 km/h, with a maximum speed of 168 km/h, thanks to a 4-cylinders petrol motor engine with a «multipoint injection system», which generate a peak output of 75 horsepower at 5200 rpm.

The forward wheels of this car have disks brakes and fixed to the body chassis using suspension type «MacPherson, independent, coil springs» and equipped with anti-roll bar. Rearward wheels have drums brakes and fixed to the body chassis by dint of suspension type «Semi-independent, coil springs» and equipped sway bar. Tires have the next measure - 195/55HR15.

Opel Astra is not tested for crash test Euro NCAP. This auto has passive safety systems (driver airbags), but there is no dynamic systems of safety.
