Launched in the year 1973, the 9^th generation of the Lancer is currently being manufactured. This model was the first hatchback from the 5^th generation that was released in the year 1988. Moreover, this model is also the most practical one in the lancer range by Mitsubishi. The style is inspired by the Evo X however, the practical value for money is equally competent to that of the Chevrolet Cruze and Skoda Octavia. The car has a spacious cabin, a standard kit along with a service plan which renders it to be more competitive as it appeared initially.

The body work and the basic chassis of the Lancer is shared with the Evo X super saloon however, it can be said that the Lancer hatchback is not quite attractive as compared to the 4-door model. In addition to this, lights and grilles can be seen in the Evo X model whereas, the rear on the large roof spoiler gives it a more sportier look however, all these features failed to hide the awkward element which is that the model is not that visually pleasing as was the Chevrolet Cruze.

If you are in search of a Lancer model which is fun on driving, then you should look at the Evo X models. It has a standard hatchback with 1.8 L petrol engine and 2.0 L diesel engine fitted to it. Moreover, the stiffness of the suspension means that the model will crash on to anything except on a prefect surface.

Mitsubishi Lancer is made available with electronic stability controlling options, Isofix child seat mounts, passenger airbag deactivation switch with complete complementary airbags, brake assist and traction control. The car achieved five stars in the crash test conducted by Euro NCAP.

Although, the Lancer is a hatchback, it still does not have a larger boot as has been expected as having seats in its place, it can only make 344 liters available. When you fold the rear bench, the situation is improved a bit and the space is now increased to provide 1,349 liters which is still 104 and 241 L below what the Skoda Octavia hatchback has to offer.
