Having its looks inspired by the Evo X saloon, the ASX is the entry of the Mitsubishi in the compact crossover sector. Nimble, well equipped, spacious as well as relatively inexpensive, this model has something to offer which the larger Shogun did not. The large boot cabin is very comfortable, the running costs are also quite cheap and the safety kit which is quite impressive makes the car ideal for families. The car has also proved itself to be a good contender with the Skoda Yeti. Moreover, the diesel version is preferred since it is smooth and economical.

Having aggressive lights and grille, the ASX has the same front end as was the case for its sibling, the Evo X. overall the ASX is not quite exciting despite of the visual interest up front. Although, the car has been designed neatly and is well proportioned however, there is something missing which does not render it to stand pout of the crowd. Even the interior is on the same platform however, the quality has improved a lot.

The compact dimensions of ASX renders it to be easy to maneuver however, to some extent driving Nissan Qashqai and Skoda Yeti is somewhat more exciting than ASX. The car has a 1.8 L diesel engine which is the world's first ever variable valve timing. Moreover, when the car is topped, the idle speed of the engine is dropped to 600 rpm which basically accelerates fuel economy.

The model has a safety kit, traction and stability controlling features, brake assists, Isofix child seat mounting points, passenger airbag deactivation switch along with 7 complementary airbags one being made for the driver's knees. The car did well in the Euro NCAP tests and obtained 5 stars.

The 442 L boot, the ASX is considered to be one of the most practical model however, when compared with Skoda Yeti, the ASX fails in the folding of the rear seats aspect as the Czech car get it removed permanently. Moreover, the rear bench can also get split up along with incorporating a ski hatch however; there is no netting or straps so as to secure small items.
