LEXUS IS · photos, packages and modifications
Lexus IS is symbolization of the fact that Lexus wants to make an emotional connection with their customers worldwide. The design of this car is such that it enables the company to do so. The spindle front grille is such that it invokes the image of the rest of the Lexus family. However, the other features such as the sculpted rear lights, along with the LED running lights in a boomerang style and upswept tiles are particular to the Lexus IS. If you buy the F Sport Trim, you will get alloys measuring 18-inches, deeper bodywork along with a special kind of finish for the grille. The overall design of the interior of this car is quite similar to the design of CT 200h although the quality is much better.
This model utilizes a better version of the chassis of its predecessor, making the chassis having a 20 percent better and firmer suspension along with being rigid. If you go for the F Sport Trim, you will have even a firmer suspension. This leads to better stability in the corners, with less body roll along with a better grip. Along with that, strong brakes along with excellent weighted steering enable drivers to have more confidence in themselves. However, the downfall of this model is the fact that the engine line-up is not up to the mark. Although the 300h has a smooth and refined drive especially when running at low speeds around the city, but if you want more power and performance, then the CVT gearbox along with the throttle response which is sluggish and timid acceleration (even though the output is supposed to be 220 bhp) is not that excellent. However, if you go for the IS 250, then its engine of 2.5 liter V6 with an output of 240 bhp and a six-speed automatic gearbox with torque converter will give you more response but still not a sporty feeling that you would want.
The brand has achieved an excellent reputation when it comes to reliability, and because of this reason, it always comes on top ranking in our Driver Power Reliability Survey. The parent company of this brand, Toyota has had some troubles in the recent past when it comes to reliability that has been much talked about, but so far, Lexus has not let down anyone. Even though the hybrid power-train is much more complex, it is still reliable. This is because the starter, alternator and the clutch are all integrated into the hybrid system, so there will be no need to replace or serve the parts, which also helps you save a lot of money when it comes to costly bills. In fact, even the battery of the Hybrid car has been manufactured in such a way that it will last you a lifetime.
This model is 75 mm longer than its predecessor since 5 mm has been added to the front overhang and 70 mm has been added to the wheelbase. It is also 100 mm more in width, and for this reason, the interior is slightly more spacious. Because of the increased length of the wheelbase, along with a front seat design that is thinner, the leg room in the rear seats has increased by 85 mm. Furthermore, the boot space has gotten bigger, and even if the batteries are present on the floor of the Hybrid model, you will still get boot space of 450 liters.
