The first generation of the South Korean manufacturer sales started in 1986 which had the brand name of Kia Pride, which was mainly assembled under license. European and Australian continent got the first version between the years 1987 and 1991, which was under the name of Mazda 121. The years after 1991 saw the sale of this car in Australasia under the name of Ford Festiva. However, the sales in Europe continued under the brand of Kia Pride. The production of the Kia Pride was discontinued in 2000. However, the SAIPA of Iran still produced this model in different forms after 2001. This production occurred in parallel to the Festiva introduced in 1993 as the second generation, which was sold as the Kia Avella in South Korea and other markets, and Ford Aspire in North America. The production of the second generation models eventually stopped in 2000 and a new generation was started off that was sold between 1996 and 2002. This third generation was a rebadged version of the Mazda Demio, sold in Japan.
