In 1999 KIA launched production of autos type Clarus, modification 2.0 GLX and finished it in 2000. In this automobile can sit 5 men including the driver, it has the form of a sedan with 4 doors, and length 4.7 meters, weight 1.2 tons.

«Clarus 2.0 GLX» is a front wheel drive car with a 5-speed manual gear shift. This car can speed up for 10.9 seconds to 100 km/h, with a max speed of 195 km/h, owing to a 4-cylinders petrol engine with a «multipoint injection system», which generate a maximum power of 133 horsepower at 5900 rpm.

Fuel consumption is 13.9 liters in the urban driving mode, on the suburban 8.1 l, and the intermediate fuel consumption is 10.3 liters per 100 km. Fuel tank capacity is 60 l of petrol, what lets to go about 583 km unrefuelled.

The front wheels of this auto have ventilated disks, 258 mm brakes and fixed to the chassis through suspension «MacPherson, independent, coil springs». Rearward wheels have disks, 261 mm brakes and attached to the underframe with help of suspension «Multilink, coil springs» and equipped with stabilizer bar. Tires have the next size - 195/65R14.

KIA Clarus is not tested for Euro NCAP crash test. In addition to dynamic safety features (ABS), it is also has passive safety systems (passenger, driver airbags).
