The G35 Coupe is also known as the Nissan Skyline 350GT, which was designed in order to replace the G20. It has been built on the same FM platform as the Infiniti FX and Nissan 350Z. The first generation of this car was launched in the market in the 2003, which had a VQ35DE engine, along with a choice of a 6-speed manual drive or 5-speed automatic drive, as well as a rear-wheel drive. This first generation was redesigned in the year 2005.

The 2007 New York International Show saw the launch of the second generation model. This car, made in Japan had an innovated design, which did not only include a facelift, but a new engine, as well. The 3.5L V6 engine was updated to the new 3.7L V6 engine, which is able to give better and smoother operation of the engine, along with low-end torque, which has been made possible because of the Variable Valve Event and Lift technology. The name of the model was switched to G37 coupe from G35. The new version also saw a 7-speed automatic transmission, which had a Downshift Rev matching (DRM) feature.

The autumn of 2010 saw the release of the new performance division known as the Infiniti Performance Line. This had the G37 Coupe, which had an engine retuned to produce 384 of horsepower, along with a better body work, a few tweaks, as well as suspension that was retuned to enable better handling.
