Production of this large SUV model was entered in 2001. Because of the inspiration from the 1990 Mitsubishi Pajero, the Terracan model of Hyundai was treated as the biggest and most powerful SUV in the line-up of Hyundai. This car was designed with 2 engines including a 2.9 CRDi and a 3.5 double engine with overhead cam. Regardless of the fact, this model was essentially an off-road vehicle that would probably be included with the features making it as a luxurious car. It can be able to make your life behind the wheel as more comfortable one because of a hoard of other little gadgets, leather seats and air conditioning system. Because of these features, it can easily serve as a town car.

The original model of Terracan was launched in 2001 and the facelifted version was launched after three years. There are some cosmetic changes occurred with this facelift. There was modification with the headlights and the alteration made in the front of the car at the grille. It was available with the additional safety features such as optional ABS and EBD as associated with improved crumple zones in order to make chassis in the case of an accident. Inside this car was also modified along with the gauges as more visible one. The central console was designed as operating one with more commands for the better performance.
