Ford decided to add another model in the line-up in 1992, after the hatch and sedan version of the Scorpio was released namely as the Wagon model. The sedan and hatch versions of this model were helped a lot to increase the sales of the Ford and hence Ford realized that, there was a mistake made in replacing the Granada by releasing out the hatch version of the Scorpio first. The estate model of this car was fitted with the efficient features including all wheel drive, cruise control and the air conditioning, which were all fitted into the European Ford model at first.

The estate version of this model was added to Scorpio line-up lastly, after the release of sedan and hatch version. Even though the Scorpio model was built in order to replace the Granada, the basic layout and the engine line-up remain the same. It was continued until the second generation model came out in 1994. The production of the hatch was discontinued at this point. The consequent and suspension handling of this model was improved in order to offer the reliable performance. It was also designed with the updated interior. Even though there were changes done with the exterior, it was now gained with the highly controversial bulging headlights as the notorious one for an elegant look.
