When you consider about the Ford Maverick model, it was available in the market with the European name of the Nissan Mistral and that too as one of the two chassis versions. Because of this reason, it went for the sales in the market with an agreement made between Ford Europe and the Nissan Motor Iberica. The short wheelbase version of this model was designed based on the Nissan Terrano platform, which was available on the British market along with the short wheelbase version designed as the panel van model. The design of the car had been normally derived from the I.D.E.A. Institute available in Italy.

After the original release of the Maverick or Nissan Mistral model in 1992, the facelift of the model had been done in 1993. The main thing normally focused on the facelift model was about the front fascia of the car and it turned to the rounded headlights now. Even though the production of phase one of Maverick model was stopped out in 1998, the Nissan Mistral had gone until 2006 along with the facelifts.
