There was a sport coupe model tried to introduce by Ford in Europe as the second car after the Capri and namely as the Cougar model. The design of the Cougar was normally based on the Ford Mondeo. In the US, this model was sold in the branded name Mercury Cougar. Since the production of Cougar was closed in 2001, there was no other second generation model produced after that. Because of the cost and the brand name of the Ford, this model became as the unsuccessful one in the world market.
