When the Capri model was released first in the market, it was immediately followed by the GT sport version of the car that was launched. This model was featured with the double-barrel carburetor along with the Essex V6 engine that was able to offer 138 horsepower. This car was released on the European markets like England and Germany initially. Later the engine of this car was redesigned with the small carburetor by using a 2.5 engine. After one year, this car was modified with the features including the lighter bodywork panels, new suspension, ventilated disc brakes, close-ratio gearbox and the aluminum wheels as the best one.

When you consider about the third generation model of the Ford Capri, it was actually the face-lifted version of the Mark 2 model and also known as the Project Carla or Mark 3 model. This model was offered with the increased aerodynamics and the front design as similar to the Escort RS2000. The Mk 3 model came up with the trademark because of the new design of the headlamps that was treated as the new and efficient feature of it. This car was designed with more European style rather than the American style, but there was nothing happened to the Ford model and it continued adding the serious power under the hood of the new Capri model.
