In the 90's ItalDesign was destined to become with the FIAT's new Cinquecento originally and the design of ItalDesign Luciolla used as the base for the Matiz model, which was stylistic one. Since that concept was rejected by FIAT, Giugiaro decided to go with Daewoo for came-up with the best result of that concept. When you consider about the design of this product version, it was closely resembled with the prototype of the 1993 model. But the adding of slight cosmetic touches and rear doors were uncommon one. This model was available with only one engine available as 8.0 liter three-cylinder and it was a carryover from the Daewoo Tico. It also came with the option added as 1.0 liter four-cylinder in some markets along with the minor changes in the design, in 2001.

Because of the revised interior and the design cues from the 2004 Chevrolet M3X concept, which was the most notable difference that available in the newly center-mounted instrument cluster there was facelift in 2005.
