CITROEN CX · photos, packages and modifications

From 1974 to 1991, there was a model produced by the French manufacturer Citroen named as the CX. There were sold up to 1.2 million CXs, in the 16 years after the release. It was treated as the last real car with more enthusiasts before the company took over by Peugeot in 1974 and the CX was awarded as the European Car of the year in 1975. The estate, the long wheelbase built on the break chassis and the four-door fastback was the models available at that time. The unique and efficient hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension system was used by the CX.

The suspension and steering of the 1982 Citroen CX model was beyond the description that provides soft ride and it was featured with large windscreen and big interior, which are ideal for long travels that made the CX to be treated as the car for drivers. When the car was going at the speed on the highway, 3 speed automatic gearboxes made the engine to work high and it was fitted in some of the Citroen CX models. All these features made CX as the model with advanced design features and the driving experience with this model was treated as hovering over road irregularities.

This model was redesigned and launched as the Series 2 in 1985, with the changes in design and some of the previous distinctiveness lost. Compared to the more elegant Series 1 design, this model delivered more aggressive exterior look because of the exterior changes that made with plastic bumpers. But, these models were available with the stiffened suspension. There was a sloping center dash area on the dashboard instead of drum speedometer that was treated as the uncomfortable one. Because of the high-performance soft suspension, the CX model was used as an ambulance and a camera car in the frequent years.
