Designed by the Italian Designer Giugiaro, the Daewoo Kalos was brought into the world on the T200 platform in 2002. When the General Motors took over Daewoo, the Kalos was the first model that was launched by the company to the public. Assembled in Bupyong plant in South Korea, this particular car had a different grille design, according to the country that it was sold in. For example, it was known as Pontiac Wave in Canada and Chevrolet Aveo in North America, and it had a variety of different European variants, as well.

There are three models available in Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback, which has five doors. These models are known as LS, 1LT, and 2LT models. This particular car has a much better version of GM's brilliant 16-valve DOHC four-cylinder engine. The 1.6L ecotec engine ensures maximum power and high fuel efficiency through the variable valve timing. The engine also makes sure that you would have a 106 horsepower at 6400 rpm. Can also achieve a maximum torque of 106 lb-ft at 3800 rounds per minute (rpm).

The Frankfurt Motor Show, which ran from 13 to 23 September 2007 showcased the first ever appearance of the Chevrolet Aveo 2008. This car had a better exterior design, which included a huge horizontally spilt radiator grille. Along with that, it had a body-colored crossbeam. Furthermore, the brand logo was stamped on the center of the car, which gave a much better look. This particular model had two petrol engines. One was that of 1.2-litre DOHC unit, along with a 1.4-litre engine, which now also has an automatic transmission facility.
