Beretta was introduced by Chevrolet in 1987 to challenge the popular status held by cars such as Nissan Pulsar NX, Toyota Celica, Ford Mustang and Honda Acura Integra. At the time of its launch in 1985, the automobile was highly priced, costing around $11,755.

The Chevy gained immediate recognition in the markets of the United States due its usage as a fleet card and its sleek exterior and beautifully constructed interior. A two door vehicle, 187 inches long and with a wheelbase of 103.4 inches, it was similar to the models produced by companies like Mercury Stable and Ford Taurus. The car could only accommodate 2,600 pounds but remarkably, its base engine had a choice between four cylinders or a fuel injected 2.8L V6. It could travel fifty miles per hour within 8 seconds. Additionally, it had a power steering, a center console, dual sport mirrors and tinted glass, twofold front speakers with a regular AM radio and power brakes. The boot of the car was also quite spacious and could store large amounts of cargo.

Even though the headroom in the rear seats did become a major concern for the buyers, the car was admired by many and was an exceptional choice as an investment. The car's production finally ceased in 1996 as the market for two-door models started falling.
