In 2002, the Z4 model was introduced by BMW. As compared to its predecessor, the Z3, the Z4 Roadster, which was available only in a convertible configuration in the initial stages, had a chassis that was stiff and a rear wheel drive. The rear suspension, as compared to the BMW Z3, is another modification because it now has a multilink configuration. Although a Sport package that had Dynamic Driving Control was not mandatory, it had many engines such as the 2.0L 4-cylinder and 3.0L M54 6-inline.
When it was being fitted with an N52 engine that the manufacturer had just developed, some minor changes were made to the styling of this model in 2006. A sportier (M) and coupe variants of this model were also introduced in 2006. The Z4 M, which is a more powerful version of the Z4 Roadster, was launched by BMW after it introduced a new facelift for the Z4 Roadster. It had a soft top, twin tailpipes, an aerodynamic underbody structure and a front end that were more muscular.
A sportier suspension (as compared to the Z4 Roadster), which improves cornering speeds by helping to distribute the weight better and a lightweight front axle are very beneficial to its chassis. A very advanced 3.2L N52 6-ylinder in-line unit that delivered 343 hp and torque of 270 lb-ft also equipped the Z4 M.
An Advanced Safety Electronics, innovative Dynamic Stability Control system, which is very useful in slippery conditions, and a high performance braking system are other new features that the all-new Z4 M Roadster has. A new generation of the model that could combine two worlds was introduced in 2009. Just like the Mercedes-Benz SLK, which is its main competitor, the new Z4 can become a Coupe by changing from a Roadster with the help of a switch.
