BMW 6-series Cabrio · photos, packages and modifications

BMW after a year of releasing the 6 series second generation coupe went on ahead and extended its range of the model through launching a new version of the 2+2 convertible. The new model while being fixed with the same V8 4.4 litre engine that delivered a tremendous 333 bhp or 645Ci was based on the coupe of entry level. The power plant was made available with the standard of a manual/automatic 6 speed transmission or the option of choosing a manual sequential gearbox which came with shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel. Among the inventive systems that were fixed with the 645Ci model included a head up display which was targeted towards proving the improved car performance and driver's safety. The convertible of the 6 series also came with a newly designed and developed iDrive system along with a side fin roof. Other new and interesting features included active steering, adaptive headlights or front seats that were electrically adjustable. The model underwent minor style changes in the year 2007.

Slight revisions were made again in the 6 series by BMW for the 2008 model which was presented in the 2007 IAA Frankfurt auto show. the Convertible and Coupe versions of the 6 series were both redesigned wearing newly redesigned rear and front bumpers that also held bigger air intakes to facilitate better engine cooling, redeveloped side sills and redesigned head and tail lights. The 630i of the 6 series credited from a boost in power by 14 hp whereas the interior faced very minor though unnoticeable changes. The new component included in the 6 series change including adaptive headlamps and active cruise control.

BMW presented the new Concept 6 series in the Paris auto show in September, 2010 and later on revealed the 6 series convertible 3rd generation the F12 in the middle of November. This new generation car was presented officially in front of the media in the North American International auto show in 2011 held in Detroit. To mention on a few features present in the 6 series convertible new version it contained Lane departure warning system, rear view camera, lane change warning system, speed limit info, surround view, BMW Night Vision equipped with pedestrian recognition, BMW parking assistance and the all new Head up display debut which was introduced for the first time in 6 series by BMW are only some of the features that interest.
