BMW 1-series Cabrio · photos, packages and modifications

The new BMW Series 1 Cabriolet version was introduced in 2007, September whereas 2008 was the year when the full production of the model commenced. Using the new automobile platform of E88, the 1 series Cabriolet unlike the steel roof of the 3 series, came with a soft top and a choice of selecting one diesel and four petrol engines. The cabriolet was also outfitted with a climate control system which automatically adjusted the airflow with the roof down. Other standard features included Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) fitted with a hill start assist, ABS, brake drying and soft stop. Its main competition came from Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet, Holden Astra Twin top, Peugeot 307CC, Renault Megane Coupe Cabriolet and Mini Cooper Cabrio.

BMW decided to make few slight revisions in the exterior of the cabriolet and coupe 1 series versions, bringing no changes to the 1 series hatchback models of both 3 and 5 doors. The changes in the cabriolet were of changed rear and front bumpers and new tail and headlights. The interior however did not get much worked on as almost all the features remain the exact same as in the earlier models. One change made was of replacing the N55 unit with the twin turbo N54 engine of the same power.
