AUDI S6 Avant · photos, packages and modifications

The S6 Avant was launched in 1994 as a more athletic version of the A6 and was made available to the masses in two variations of an estate/ wagon and a saloon. The estate/wagon model was termed as the S6 Avant and was simultaneously launched in both the North American and European market featuring 2.2 litre diesel turbocharged unit capable of delivering 230 PS along with the option of 4.2 litre V8 engine delivering 290 PS. The model came with Audi's all wheel drive and an anti lock braking system. This Audi S6 generation was discontinued in 1997.

Contrasting to the A4 based models of S6, the new versions used a new platform of Volkswagen C5 while being made available in a wagon/ estate model in the North American market. The European market witnessed a Sedan with four doors. The new model also included a redesigned and stiffened suspension along with a standard Servotronic. Safety features list included Anti lock braking, ESP, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist. The outer design the S6 of 1999 had a redesigned grille, front wings or back decklid spoiler and an aluminum hood. The Avant and Sedan models were both available with the all wheel drive as standard.

The Audi S6 and its twin in terms of mechanics the S7 were launched as the 2013 models after the C7 A6 model a year later. Audi's model of S6 and S7 both contain a DOHC twin turbo V8 unit paired with S tronic 7 speed Double clutch gearbox. The unit provides a torque of 405 lb-ft and 420 horsepower and is available with a cylinder deactivation system along with fuel economy centered stop start system. The 2012 released Audi S8 also share with a higher tuning state the same engine as the S6 however it provides 520 hp and a torque of 479 lb-ft paired with an automatic 8 speed transmission.
