The previous generation of Audi A6 could not be termed as the best in class. It was not as satisfying as the BMW 5 Series nor did it provide the comfort of a Mercedes E-Class. The new and revised Audi A6 however is among the best executive cars available in the market staying behind only the top class ultra efficient car the BMW 520e ED. The A6 is a perfect all rounder and offers class and mode fit to rival the Jaguar XF. Above all the Audi A6 is the only car that comes with the four wheel drive option in its particular class and the tremendously efficient engines, the running costs can also be competed with all three of its rivals.

Audi A6 is overall an elegant machine offering taut and sharp lines and attractive touches including the daytime LED lights on the S line models. They also get stiffened and lowered suspension, sportier looking bigger alloy wheels and a gentle bodykit. The SE models of A6 also offer stylish alloys in their models as standard. Among rivals the Jaguar XF is the only one that can match or compare look-wise, the hesitant BMW 5 Series seems bland when compared to the looks of the Audi A6.The cabin of the model is definitely class leading which borrows its quality and style from the flagship A8 model thus completing the package. The clever and rational MMI controller of Audi is very simple and easy to use having just a few buttons that distract.

With extensive aluminum use in the construction of the Audi A6, it is light weight and gives the feeling of agility when on the move. The steering too is not as communicative as the Jaguar XF or the BMW 5 Series but still the A6 Audi is superior and precise to drive. The Audi A6 standard cars offer a rigid but obedient ride and there is no benefit in paying more for an open air suspension which is optionally offered. The S line models do however jar and thump over potholes. The company's quattro four wheel drive system is driven by the fast 296 bhp supercharged 3.0 litre V6 and two diesel TDI 3.0 engines. However if you were to pick one out of the variety of engines the 175 bhp diesel 2.0 litre is the best offering 0-62 mph in 8.2 seconds when paired with the excellent eight speed Multitronic automatic.

Audi A6 is also on the extreme level of safety. It has to its credit a five star NCAP rating for safety boasting a 91% adult occupant protection. The safety kit comes with standard six airbags, stability control and traction. You can opt for safety extras including lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and blind spot system. Audi carries with its name a reputation for reliability and A6 will not be changing it.

The latest A6 is much bigger than its predecessor equaling to more back space where loads of legroom and head space is possible now. A lot of detailing on the model is done with glass and thus the Audi A6 does not feel as claustrophobic as many of its rivals. The boot is enormous with luggage space of 530 litres while in standard mode making it larger than the BMW 5 Series and 995 litres when the rear seats are folded.
