The Audi A5 catches the eye instantly though its modest elegance. Following the footsteps of the A5 Coupe, this four seat drop top is a mixture of decent performance and intelligent design paired with economical running costs. The roof of the model is of fabric providing a retro touch to the model's appearance. Also the fabric roof takes lesser space to stow thus providing a much bigger boot compared to A5 Cabriolet arch rival model the BMW Convertible 3 Series. Also since the experience of riding an A5 Cabriolet is very much like the A5 Coupe which gives a quiet drive even on motorway speeds there is also no disadvantage of a fabric roof top.
Externally the Audi A5 Cabriolet is a car with simple shape and an overall sharp look dominated by a huge Audi grille. A trademark of Audi, the LED daytime light is a standard and the inner materials are of good quality cleverly designed in the most stylish way presenting a high standard construction all in all which is now a normal expectation from Audi.
The S line models further add up on the athletic touch to the comfortable and deluxe cabin including S line sill plates, Sports seats made of leather with the S Line embossed on them, aluminum inlays that are matt brushed and S Line design black trimmed three spoke steering wheel.
The A5 Cabriolet is available in a vast range of petrol and diesel engines. The turbo 2.0 litre and the 3.0 litre V6 are the engines for the drivers that seek real power in their drive, however the small turbo 1.8 litre engine offers a punching performance and ride as well. The diesel engines art entry level is flexible at 2.0 litre whereas 242 bhp and 201 bhp units of 3.0 litre are also available to choose from. Both transmissions of automatic and manual are available in both front four wheel drive and front drive. The A5 Cabriolet at cornering offers considerable grip though the steering is somewhat fuzzy which makes it real hard to predict what is going on ahead with the front wheels. The top Spec S Line models and the models with optional alloys of large diameters however offer a painfully hard ride.
Viewing the car in terms of safety offerings, the model comes with side and front airbags to cover the head and the chest area and contains stability control. Another protection and safety mechanism is the installation of the rollbars at the back of the rear seats which offer protection to the back passengers in the car turning over cases.
