AUDI 100 Avant · photos, packages and modifications

The 100 model's third generation was introduced in 1983 made available to the public in two body styles the 5 door Avant and the 4 Door sedan/saloon. The newer of the two models of Audi 100 Avant was built using the Volkswagen platform the C3 which was a 5 door station wagon opposed to the previous model of a 4 door configured sedan. A wide variety of engines were made available in the European market and also the North American market for two years by the name of the Audi 5000, however due to some acceleration accidents the model took a bad name and was discontinued. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration though later issued that the accidents were not the result of the technical problem of the model but the driver's negligence. The same car with the name of Audi 100 won the award of the "Car of the Year 1983" in Europe.

The fourth generation Audi 100 was based on the Volkswagen C4 platform and was launched in 1991 offered in the body of a sedan/saloon and wagon/estate. Also the fourth generation line was equipped with a new powerplant the V6 2.8 liter unit capable of producing 174 hp. The option of Audi's Quattro system was Also available with the entire model along with an automatic ZF 4 speed gearbox. The same model with a changed name was introduced in 1994 as A6 which followed the same designed until finally going out of production in 1997.
