DAEWOO · short company description

The Daewoo group which was the second largest conglomerate business in Korea behind Hyundai was broken into numerous companies due to the restructuring widespread that occurred in Korea in the year 1999. Daewoo has been an old GM Korean market partner after GM finally bought Daewoo Motors Ltd and ended up creating a company presently known as GM Daewoo.

Daewoo initially attempted to sell its Nubira, Leganza and Lanos vehicle models in the US. Also the company attempted to sell its vehicles in the Southeast Asian and European markets starting the operation in late 1995, however a poor quality reputation forced Daewoo to withdraw its brands from these markets by the time of Daewoo Motors sale to GM.

Currently GM Daewoo is responsible for manufacturing many small vehicles under different divisions of GM. Suzuki and Chevrolet of the US Daewoo has become the outpost of GM leading to China's doorstep, which is residence to GM's worldwide system's most imperative styling studios.
